PROJECT OVERVIEW

The story of Škocjan caves and Piran is a story of both nature and man and man and his city life. The Škocjan caves are creation of the Reka river, that springs at the foothills of the mountain Snežnik. After 55 kilometres Reka goes underground at the mighty cliff of a gorge. Learn, why Škocjan caves are one of the rare worlds caves listed on UNESCO’s list of natural and cultural worlds heritage. This unique natural phenomenon tells the story of water and limestone reaching millions of years back in time. After short drive through pictures landscape of Karst we`ll stop in the city Piran. It is located at the very end of Piran peninsula.  Once important port has preserved medieval basis until nowadays. Due to the deep rooted tradition of salt panning that merges with countless stories of the narrow town streets, we can easily claim that it has grown on the income of salt. Škocjan caves and Piran trip reveals the very essence of Slovenia; short distances and big diversities.
