Half day trip
Carniola does not have a prettier scene, than this one; it’s truly heaven’s twin”. This is how our greatest poet France Prešern described his first impression of lake Bled and its landscape from the Bled castle. The latter stands proudly on 130 m high cliff above the lake and its island.
Take a ride with Pletna, traditional boat, to the single Slovenian island where 99 stairs lead to ta church which was built on the spot of Pre-Christian cultural place of ancient Slavs. How did the oldest Slovenian castle, first mentioned in written sources back in the year 1011, became the property of Bishops of Brixen, who had governed it for more than eight hundred years? Once administrative centre of Upper Carniola, relates today the stories of blacksmiths, wine cellar, art of printing and Slovenian honey. Also try kremšnita, the unique cream cake.
