PROJECT OVERVIEW
The road takes us through picturesque landscape to pay a visit to local beekeeper who lives nearby lake Bohinj. He shares his knowledge about bees and beekeeping and let us peep into beehive and bee house. He makes honey liqueur and other honey products. Just 30 min. drive away there stands Bled castle with breath-taking view of the lake Bled and its landscape. With court smithy, printing house, wine cellar and museum brings you back to the medieval times. Additional to that you can experience how do bees see the beehive from inside. Radovljica settlement is known after one of the most preserved medieval cores in Slovenia with restaurants serving traditional Slovenian food. Community there lets bees live in a house which hosts two beekeeping museums.
English speaking guide pick you up at 8.30 AM in front of your accommodation in Ljubljana. After 90 min. drive we arrive to the local beekeeper, who explains everything about beekeeping. We peep into bee house, beehive and try some honey samples and honey liqueur. Next, around 12.00 we stop at Bled castle to see how books were printed in 16 th century, why the life of blacksmiths was so hard back in the medieval times and to learn a little bit about castle´s history. At 14.00 you try traditional Slovenian lunch in Radovljica settlement. After lunch you learn about tradition of beekeeping in Slovenia. We return back to your accommodation in Ljubljana at 18.00.
